CAS Valuation – CVA® track
Certified valuation competence for specialists and professionals
Business valuation is the supreme discipline of business administration, an all-round competition and team sport.
The CAS Valuation – CVA® track offers sound basic training, practice-relevant in-depth training and an integrated further qualification (CVA® training week) by experts from theory and practice. Conducted in cooperation with the European Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (EACVA).
Goals
- Master the mathematical and conceptual basics of business valuation (investment appraisal, statistics, etc.).
- Knowledge of the relevant national and international valuation standards (technical bulletin UBW, IVS etc.).
- Master the valuation methods and supplementary procedures commonly used in Switzerland.
- Be able to develop an integrated financial plan and derive from it the variables relevant for the valuation.
- Be able to identify and handle interfaces with accounting and taxation issues.
- Be familiar with special valuation objects (real estate, start-ups, SMEs).
- Be prepared for the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA®) exam.

- Quantitative basics (investment appraisal, statistics and capital market theory)
- Traditional and modern valuation methods
- Valuation principles and value concepts
- Special features of the valuation of SMEs, start ups, intangibles and real estate
- Tax valuations from KS 28 to DCF
- Impairment, purchase price allocation and goodwill
- CVA® training week
Target audience
- Audit and tax, finance or accounting professionals who want to professionally value companies.
- Tax experts, auditors and lawyers working in the field of M&A who want to refresh and deepen their specialist knowledge.
- Valuation professionals who want to acquire a nationally and internationally recognised qualification.
Degree
- Certificate of Advanced Studies FHNW Valuation, 15 ECTS.
- Afterwards, students have the opportunity to take the exam to become a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA®) through the European Associaton of Certified Valuation Analysts (EACVA).
Dates
- Start on 28.5.2021
- 15 course days each Friday (afternoon) and Saturday (full day) for Part 1.
- One whole week (05.07. to 09.07.2021) for Part 2 (CVA® training week)
- CVA® exam on 10.07.2021 on site
